Biography

Alexander G. Holder

Hails from Allentown, PA. and is a 2012 Graduate of the University of Texas. He was commissioned via the Officer Candidate Course in 2013.

Major Holder’s service to the Marine Corps began in the summer of 2000 as a poolee. After graduating high school in 2001 he took his place on the yellow footprints of Parris Island in February 2001 under a 4 year active duty contract. After completing boot camp and MCT, then Private Holder headed to Fort Leonard Wood, MO. to train as a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Specialist. His first duty station was 1st Marine Division, H&S Company, NBC Platoon. During the next year, Major Holder prepared for the Iraq invasion working under General Mattis in the COC during training and exercises as well as instructing and inspecting Division units preparing to deploy.

In the summer of 2002, Major Holder returned to Fort Leonard Wood to train as a Fox Reconnaissance Vehicle Crewman. He completed the course as Honor Graduate, returned to Camp Pendleton and transferred to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance assigned to one of the four NBC Fox Recon Vehicles.

In January of 2003, Major Holder deployed to Kuwait and subsequently to the front lines of the Iraq invasion. He crossed into Iraq alongside 1st Tanks and continued the push to Baghdad. Major Holder would find himself, now with his Fox Recon crew, again attached to the 1st Marine Division Headquarters in Babylon. From here, he would spend the summer running missions throughout Iraq searching for Weapons of Mass Destruction until returning stateside in October of 2003.

Major Holder would return to Iraq in February of 2004, this time as the NBC Chief for 1st LAR in Al Qa’im. With the NBC threat mitigated, he took a post as the Corporal of the Guard inside the detention center where he processed over 500 detainees becoming proficient in Arabic, conducting interrogation, and biometric processing.

In February of 2005, then Corporal Holder, returned to civilian life and invested in 8 apartments in downtown Austin, Texas. He began his studies at Austin Community College and obtained a job as a contracted Federal Police Officer working night shifts at Federal Buildings. During his time as an FPO, he founded a union and held the title of Union President for the local Chapter safeguarding the rights and benefits for hundreds of Officers while serving as the combat, first aid, and federal facilities instructor.

In 2007, Major Holder was contacted by the Marine Corps to facilitate as a NBC and MCMAP instructor and be part of the Mobile Training Teams managed by Mobilization Command which traveled to reserve units preparing to mobilize and deploy. During the next 3 years, Captain Holder obtained the rank of Sergeant while training and qualifying thousands of Marines in NBC and MCMAP.

After graduating from the University of Texas in 2012 with a Bachelors Degree in Middle Eastern Studies, Major Holder was accepted into the Reserve Officer program and left for OCS in January of 2013 where he commissioned in April of 2013. After completing TBS, Major Holder was assigned to become a 0180, Adjutant.

Major Holder’s first Adjutant tour was at Combat Logistics Regiment 4 in Kansas City, MO. He began his civilian career as a Construction Manager for David Weekley Homes where he would work for the next 4 years building houses in Downtown San Antonio, Texas. After a year at CLR4, Captain Holder transferred to 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in San Antonio and was the Adjutant there for 4 years until dropping to the IRR in 2018. In June of 2019, Captain Holder became the Adjutant for 14th Marine Regiment in Fort Worth, Texas. He was then assigned to TFSW 20.1 and mobilized to deploy in October of 2019. In January 2020, Captain Holder was reassigned to be the Operation Officer for 4th Marine Division, G-1 in New Orleans, Louisiana. In March of 2021, Major Holder continued on active orders as the G-1 Operations for III MEF in Okinawa, Japan until October 2021. After which he was assigned to the IMA as a G-1 Operations Officer working with USFK and ROK Marines during Ulchi Freedom Shields. Major Holder is currently on ADOS as the G-1 Operation Officer for TF 51/5 in Bahrain through October 2024.

Major Holder is not married and has two children, Sterling (10) and Vedra (9) living with their mother in Austin, Texas. He is the owner of Holder Construction Services, a general contracting construction company in Austin, Texas that he has been in operation since 2018. Currently, Construction projects consist largely of solar, roofing, Christmas lighting, and apartment/condo investment property maintenance. Captain Holder is also the Director of Green Lion International, a non-profit based in Uganda.

Major Holder’s personal decorations include, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Meritorious Unit commendation, Korean Defense Service Medal, Marine Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd Award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (2nd Award).
